The use of explosive ordnance such as mines, grenades, bombs and so-called ‘booby traps’ has been, right up until the present time, a way to effectively restrict enemy movement and to channel or, if possible, to minimise his freedom of manoeuvre. The focus of this threat in current Bundeswehr foreign operations is the improvised explosive device (IED). Their varieties depend fundamentally on the physical capabilities of respective groups, and they are constantly evolving and changing. To suit the development of hazards and the methods of delivering explosive ordnance, the Bundeswehr is in parallel continuously adapting methods of reconnaissance, clearance and removing explosive ordnance. This book provides you and overview about the various mine-clearing systems used by the German Bundeswehr today.
