The YAK protected multipurpose vehicle was originally developed as a private venture by Rheinmetall Landsysteme GmbH. It is based on the reliable DURO III P (6×6) chassis from the Swiss company GDELS, of which more than 3,500 4×4 and 6×6 versions have been built for the Swiss Army and other foreign customers up till now.
