Since the publication of my first book about the Stryker Interim Armored Vehicles (IAVs) nine years ago in 2006 this family of vehicles has undergone numerous upgrades due to continual operations in Iraq and Afghanistan from 2004 till the present and as a result of lessons learned from combat operations. The Stryker IAV, also known as the Light Armored Vehicle III (LAV III), is based on the Piranha III produced by MOWAG GmbH of Switzerland now re-named General Dynamics European Land Systems.
