Waffenträger Wiesel 1A1 MK

The main difference between the original Wiesel 1A0 MK Armored Weapon Carrier, fielded between 1990 and 1992, and the upgraded Wiesel 1A1 MK is the autonomous optronic sight AOZ 2000 including a sensor unit with an OPHELIOS thermal imaging system, a CCD-daylight camera system and a HALEM 22 laser rangefinder. The thermal imaging system can be operated in two fields of view. With it targets up to a range of 2,500m can be detected, while they can be classified at a range of 2,000m and identified at a range of up to 1,800m. The fielding of the Wiesel 1A1 MK Armored Weapon Carrier started in February 2002. The armament consists of the MK 20mm Rh 202 automatic cannon.
