Waffenträger Wiesel 1A1 TOW
The main difference between the original Wiesel 1A0 TOW Armored Weapon Carrier, fielded between 1990 and 1992, and the upgraded Wiesel 1A1 TOW is the 7.62mm x 51 MG3 machine gun mounted outside to the right of the loader’s hatch. The TOW (Tube-Launched Optically-Tracked Wire-Guided) Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) is fitted onto a mount that can be elevated and operated by the vehicle commander who is seated to the left in the rear of the hull. To his right the loader is located. The roof above the rear fighting compartment is basically a large hatch into which two smaller hatches for the commander and loader have been integrated. The armament consists of the TOW ATGM and the 7.62mm x 51 MG3 machine gun.
