Bv 206 S Transporttrupp

As the Bundeswehr was very satisfied with the Bv 206 S Ambulance, on 8 December 2004 it ordered an additional 75 vehicles of the Bv 206 S Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) variant. In order to transport the raised amount of mission kits, personnel equipment and general transport goods, a total of 156 TTA Bv 206 S trailers were ordered in various batches and these were delivered in 2009-10. The first batch was for trailers for APCs and the second batch of trailers was for Command Post Vehicles. The different APC versions mostly differ in their special mission kits as well as their radio equipment. The engine compartment of the Bv 206 S runs along the entire front tracked unit. That is the reason why the seats are mounted on the left and right. The driver sits in the front left, the squad leader and vehicle commander in the front right, and the gunner for the 7.62mm x 51 MG3 is at the rear left. The radio equipment, consisting of two SEM 80/90 VHF radios, is located in the front tracked unit between the two rear seats. For inter-vehicle communication, an intercommunication system with headsets is installed.

There are seven foldable seats for the infantry squad located along both sidewalls of the rear tracked unit. Three seats are mounted on the left and four on the right side of the armoured cabin. If not being used, they can be folded upwards in order to improve freedom of movement. The foldable weapon mount for seven 5.56mm x 45 G36 assault rifles is located on the left side of the rear tracked unit. Even when the rear tracked unit features a roof hatch, it is only used as an emergency exit and it needs to be closed during movement.
