Today`s 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) traces its history back to the 32nd Marine Amphibious Unit (MAU) which was activated at various times in the 1960s and 1970s to participate in exercises and operations in the North Atlantic, Mediterranean and Caribbean. The large scale NATO exercise Tident Juncture 2018, which took place 2018 in Norway, was the major exercise for the 24th MEU in that year. Exercise Trident Juncture 2018, directly supporting NATO`s Readiness Action Plan, was designed to improve total force readiness, crisis and contingency force response, and cooperative security.
